The best part about watching the world cup at direct tv prices is seeing the amount of passion and enthusiasm that the other countries show for their teams. In the US, rarely do we see that amount of pride. Soccer is the livelihood in other countries. They stand all game, sing songs and chants the entire time. What we Americans see as a slow and ‘boring’ game, other countries see as a beautiful game of skill and dexterity, and they embrace it. Not even when the game ends in a tie and neither team wins do they get mad or disappointed. It’s intimidating at first, but when you get a chance to see it, even on TV, the chanting throng of fans entranced in the game they love is amazing.
This is all true for other country’s fans when they cheer for their favorite club, but when World Cup season comes around, the excitement and emotion is three-fold when they cheer for their country. They use face-paint, wear ridiculous hats, bang drums, and dress together in a sea of their nation’s colors.
In recent years, the US team has done rather well, not counting the most recent showing four years ago in the World Cup. So US fans have a reason to cheer and expect greatness from their club. Maybe, just maybe the US fans will begin to embrace their team with a passion similar to those around the world.
